Toronto Star, Dec 4, 2010: In the fall of 1993 two families — one on a Saskatchewan farm, the other in downtown Toronto — made life-and-death decisions about their daughters’ futures. Both girls, one nearly 13 at the time, the other almost 18, had profound developmental disabilities. In Saskatchewan, Robert Latimer ended his daughter Tracy’s life, later saying in interviews he acted “out of love” to end her suffering.
