17 Jul 2013 Over 100 crosses Remind Southern Alberta that WeNeedaLAW!

July 17, 2013  Lethbridge, AB - This summer people living in Southern Alberta will be exposed to a powerful message displayed by area residents on their front lawns. An educational campaign with the purpose of bringing awareness to Canada’s lack of protection for pre-born humans, has seen over 100 crosses distributed throughout Lethbridge, Coaldale and Taber. The freshly painted crosses have the words “weneedaLAW.ca” and “theTRUTHis.ca” printed on them and already they are getting noticed by passersby. Paul Vanderheide of Coaldale says shortly after he stuck one in his front lawn his neighbour wandered over to inquire. “He couldn’t believe Canada had no law restricting abortion and because of the sign on my lawn he is better informed,” said Vanderheide. “The groundswell from across the country is remarkable,” said weneedaLAW.ca director, Mike Schouten. “Canadians are increasingly becoming aware of the reality that Canada is the only democracy in the world without abortion laws, and conversations such as the one Mr. Vanderheide had with his neighbour are common.” Mel Harthoorn, one of the local volunteers with the Southern Alberta ARPA, said a friend of hers came up with the idea. “We got about fifteen volunteers out to give a fresh coat of paint to the existing crosses we had and to spray paint the words on. There were so many people who were eager to display a cross on their lawn that we quickly ran out of crosses. We hope to have them up all summer.”

25 Jun 2013 Summer Projects for You and Your Family

Summer provides some excellent opportunities for us to witness to our Canadian neighbours about important issues that our nation is wrestling with. But this doesn't just happen by itself. It takes some planning. The time, energy, and money that we invest in this can reap a bountiful harvest, even if much of the impact may not be measurable or visible to us. At the very least, taking on one of these projects can serve as excellent teaching tools for our children and friends. 1) Have your family save up for...

13 Aug 2012 ARPA’s Host MP Stephen Woodworth – Video & Pictures

"In a democracy every one of us is responsible for every law. In a democracy every one of us is responsible for an unjust law. And as Christians we have the moral obligation to do all we can to change those unjust laws." (Mr. Woodworth, speaking to the audience in Lethbridge Alberta). MP Stephen Woodworth, the author of Motion 312 which is coming to a vote in the House of Commons, was hosted by ARPA groups in Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Barrhead last week, making the case for his motion that asks for a Parliamentary committee to study the Criminal Code's definition of human life. Lethbridge and Edmonton saw large crowds of about 200 people each, drawing from their respective communities as well. MPs Jim Hillyer, Rob Merrifield, Brian Storseth and long-term conservative publisher and leader Link Byfield were some of the leaders who made a point of coming to these events.

18 May 2012 Bulkley Valley ARPA’s Abortion Memorial Ordered Down by Provincial Government

Good news update (May 29): We received word from a Ministry of Transportation official today that this display is allowed to go back up as long as it is located completely on private property. Smithers, BC – May 18 2012: The District Manager of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has ordered  a road-side abortion memorial just outside of Smithers be removed. 48 hours notice was given, with the threat that if this wasn’t done the display would be removed by the Ministry and the costs charged to the Association for Reformed Political Action (ARPA) who is behind the display. The memorial consists of 100 white crosses, attached to fence posts, with small one-word signs that read “Each cross represents 1,000 abortions in Canada every year. www.TheTruthis.ca”. It was constructed by local youth who wanted to be a voice for those who don’t have their own voice in Canada. The plan was to have the display up for only about three weeks. Similar displays are located across Canada.

In the first event of this kind in ARPA history, twenty Alberta ARPA reps from Lethbridge to Neerlandia converged on the steps of the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton on April 12 to meet with a dozen MLAs, including five cabinet ministers. The groups were encouraged with the excellent reception they received. The issues presented included land rights, parental responsibility in the education system, and reforming the Alberta Human Rights Commission. All of the participants were every-day Albertans, many of whom have little other political experience, but who bravely took up the challenge to make these meetings happen.
