07 Nov 2011 Blame the state, not the rich

Carman Valley Leader, Nov 3 2011: The occupiers of Wall Street are at the wrong address. They describe themselves as the bottom 99 per cent. They blame the top one per cent wealthy or CEOs for tanking the economy. They should picket Parliament Hill or Capital Hill. The real one per cent is government.

04 Nov 2011 Another Youth Entry: Funding shortchanges private Christian schools

Guelph Tribune Re: Doug Hallett’s article about new plans for public schools in Guelph (Tribune, Sept. 29), I’d like to bring to light the following issue. Christian schools in our community receive no government funding, and yet tens of millions of dollars are going into expanding the kindergarten program to full-time locally. The board’s proposing to build a second public school on Grange Road to aid Ken Danby school with their population size. Danby is less than a kilometre down the road from the proposed site. Need I mention that Holy Trinity Catholic School is situated right beside Ken Danby and is also funded by the government?

03 Nov 2011 Letter from ARPA Youth – Abortion: Tax support wrong

Langley Advance, Nov 1 2011: Abortion is wrong, and is paid for with our taxes, and I am very sad that Parliament is doing nothing to stop it. Though I would prefer a ban on abortion, let’s try to get a law in place that says that people who want an abortion must pay for it with their own money. Then our taxes should get used for better purposes: perhaps supporting adoption programs, and raising awareness about the harms of abortion.

03 Nov 2011 “Choice”

Lethbridge Herald, Nov 1 2011: A few weeks ago I wrote a letter to the editor outlining how abortion, if continued unchecked, can and indeed already is leading to infanticide.  It sparked a bit of a debate on the online forum, which is great.  I would like to openly refute one of the arguments made on that forum because, sadly, it is a common one, and one that doesn’t make much sense.  It is that of “choice” – that “it’s my body, and I can do with it what I want”.

01 Nov 2011 Canada needs an abortion debate

Guelph Mercury, Oct 31: We need a national debate on abortion. The reality is that if we shut down this debate, we shut down freedom of speech and we harm our democracy. When our political leaders refuse to debate an issue that 52 per cent of Canadians want to have we, wittingly or unwittingly, are causing harm to our country. That the subject matter is abortion should make no difference. If the subject matter were murder, rape, women’s rights or what we teach our children in school, would we censure those debates? Of course not. Then why are we not allowed to debate abortion?

28 Oct 2011 4 Letters to Winnipeg Papers (Stanley Reitsma)

"The News Review" Oct 27th edition of Yorkton Saskatchewan: The Occupy Wall Street protestors want Big Government socialist solutions to combat poverty. There are other ways government can tackle poverty. Poverty should be dealt with by government alleviating the Biblical definition of the Institution of the Family which is the married one man and one woman at the exclusion of all others martial union as a unique legal entity and with special legal status. This should be at the deliberate discrimination of all other unions, as law of the land.

25 Oct 2011 Infanticide is the next step

ARPA Note: Wonder if your letters get noticed? Check out the comments below this letter on the Lethbridge Herald website. Lethbridge Herald, Oct 12 2011: Most of us would argue (hopefully) that killing a born child is murder, but what's the difference between a born and an unborn child? Very little. Canada accepts abortion. What's next? Killing disabled newborns? Healthy newborns? You may scoff, but this idea is becoming more and more acceptable. Just look at the Netherlands, as one example. But we don't even have to look that far; recently, a woman received a suspended sentence by an Alberta judge after being convicted of killing her healthy newborn son. The mother was not in some confused mental state; she planned this killing. The judge, however, reasoned that since there is no law on abortion, the majority of Canadians probably sympathize with the mother.

20 Oct 2011 Bible Beef

Edmonton Sun, Oct 20 2011: Warren Kinsella believes Christ would join the Wall Street Occupiers, according to his Bible-quoting column. This is the same man who viciously mocked and ridiculed Stockwell Day in the 2000 election campaign. Kinsella mocked Day’s biblical beliefs that the earth was literally created in seven days 6,000 years ago. Jesus often spoke about and referred to creation as literally a seven-day time frame.

18 Oct 2011 ‘Mother Nature’ headline offensive

Hamilton Spectator, Oct 13 2011: Although I enjoyed the record-breaking temperatures this past Thanksgiving weekend, I gave thanks to God for the weather rather than Mother Nature. I can’t imagine this paper ever printing a headline like “God gives beautiful weather to southern Ontario” because that would be considered “offensive.” Just for the record, I am offended by the reference to Mother Nature, a common personification of the Earth with pagan origins. There is nothing neutral or politically correct about Mother Nature.

14 Oct 2011 Scary idea to help them off

Chilliwack Times, Oct 13 Re: "Sometimes help is needed" letter in the Oct. 6 edition of the Chilliwack Times. What is a Christian approach to life and death? Please don't tell me it is helping end the life of someone. Mentioning that one might need to be "helped" off, if they are not in good enough mental or physical shape to meet God on their own, is a scary idea. Who is going to do the "helping" and when does someone decide the time to be "helped" has arrived?
